The Holy Cross Praise Team is comprised of about a dozen students from 5th to 8th grade, which each year are chosen to help lead their peers in praise and worship. It exists as a vehicle to help the student body as they learn how to worship the Lord in song, in spirit and in truth (Jn. 4:23-24).
Elementary Sign language
The elementary sign language team is comprised of 2nd through 5th grade students. Sign language is a complete, complex language that employs signs made with the hands and other movements, including facial expressions and postures of the body. Members of the elementary sign language team learn over 100 signs. Being a part of this ministry raises cultural awareness of special needs, increases self-esteem, and enhances children’s’ vocabulary. Team members learn to sign songs as a way of worshiping God.
Middle School Sign Language
The middle school language ministry participates in worship at Holy Cross and also in other venues in our community. Students in 6th through 8th grade comprise this team. Sign Language is about using our hands and body expressively to share the name of Jesus through song.
At Holy Cross, we feel that creative expression through visual art is fundamentally important to the development of the child. Just as we are all magnificent masterpieces of the Almighty Creator, we express our God-given creativity to create our works of art.
This is what some of our students say about art:
“Art has no right or wrong”
“Art is a blessing”
“Art feeds the imagination”
“Art is a gift from God”
“Art is an opportunity to believe in yourself”
“Art is the way I express myself”
“Art shows your personality”
